Arts And Crafts Bronze Display Stand We believe this piece to be from Carl Sorenson, working in Philadelphia at the turn of the century, who was noted for his Arts & Crafts styled metalwares. He typically worked in copper with occasional pieces in bronze. His hand-hammered desk accessories and decorative pieces are easily recognized by their verdigris patina commonly accented by incised and highlighted lines. Although they are approximately 75 years old they have the elegant simplicity of more contemporary pieces.

The Arts and Crafts movement was a British and American aesthetic movement occurring in the last years of the 19th century and the early years of the 20th century. Inspired by the writings of John Ruskin and a romantic idealization of the craftsman taking pride in his personal handiwork, it was at its height between approximately 1880 and 1910.
