He completed a four-month artist residency at Mandala Pottery, run by Adil Writer, where he continued his exploration and experimentation with ceramics, developing organic sculptural forms. During this period, he was inspired to develop a new series in bronze. This time of artistic growth allowed him to deepen his understanding of ceramics, recognizing the medium's potential in its immediacy and its limitations in fragility. (Artist-in-residence, Mandala Pottery, Auroville - 2019) "In my abstract sculptures, the viewer is free to imagine their own worlds and create personal meaning." Since early childhood, I have moved between homes and countries, collecting impressions of organic forms that later found expression in my art. From the subtle curve of an animal’s back to the rolling waves of a hillside, my work often fuses living creatures with elements of nature. Mythological trees, sea waves with human heads, singing spirals, and half-leaf, half-human reclining figures frequently emerge in my creations, blending the organic and the fantastical.
Flavius Pisapia: Abstract Pottery and Ceramics Sculptor. Flavius Pisapia is an abstract sculptor known for his innovative work in pottery and ceramics. His creations blend organic forms with imaginative elements, drawing inspiration from nature’s fluid shapes and the human figure. Through his sculptures, Pisapia explores the inherent tension between fragility and strength in ceramics, crafting unique pieces that are both delicate and bold. During his artist residency at Mandala Pottery in Auroville, Pisapia expanded his practice by experimenting with new techniques, while also beginning a new bronze series. His time at the studio enriched his exploration of ceramics as a medium, emphasizing its immediacy and its limitations. Pisapia’s abstract forms invite the viewer into a world where myth and nature merge. His sculptures often depict fantastical hybrids—tree-like figures, waves with human features, and organic shapes that suggest movement and life. Each piece encourages personal interpretation, making space for viewers to find their own meanings within his art.
