She loves to express herself through her art ceramics and mixed media design sculptures. Inspired by the primitive vessels of various bands and tribes is a refreshing reminder that our culture is reflected in the most practical objects. These rudimentary forms take on the fluidity of coarse textured fabrics while elegantly displaying Holzke’s signature abstract painting style. Brenda, combines her love of color and texture to create fresh and unique designs. With a passion for anything classically unusual, traditional looks are often updated with a modern twist. Her strongest inspiration is drawn from the vast world of fashion. The final results of this are ceramic designs with combinations of pattern and color that strongly resemble textiles. As a ceramic artist, Brenda is not bound by limitations, and is always finding unique ways of interpreting clay through experimentation. Brenda, understands the importance of combining beautiful visuals with solid concepts. Functional style is always a priority. Her diversified collections can be displayed several ways, allowing many pieces to easily be grouped together, or showcase beautifully on their own. Brenda, went to the prestigious Art Center College of Design. Brenda Holzke has been a commercial ceramicist for nineteen years.  Self-taught, her designs have been sold in retail stores such as Barney's, Neiman Marcus, Pottery Barn and many more.  She has produced private label designs for Starbucks, Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Pier One and others. All of the art is edited and chosen by us for its high quality and workmanship before posting. A ceramic is an inorganic, nonmetallic solid prepared by the action of heat and subsequent cooling. Ceramic materials may have a crystalline or partly crystalline structure, or may be amorphous (e.g., a glass). Because most common ceramics are crystalline, the definition of ceramic is often restricted to inorganic crystalline materials, as opposed to the noncrystalline glasses, a distinction followed here.

The earliest ceramics made by humans were pottery objects, including 27,000 year old figurines, made from clay, either by itself or mixed with other materials, hardened in fire. Later ceramics were glazed and fired to create a colored, smooth surface. Ceramics now include domestic, industrial and building products and a wide range of ceramic art. In the 20th century, new ceramic materials have been developed for todays newest up coming artists.
