A fine old knife spear from the Congo regions of Africa. The spearhead is 16" inches long and 3" inches wide. It's surfaces are decorated both sides and the edges are sharp and in a stand. The spearhead sits on top of a old wooden timber shaft. A fine example of the type associated with the Kuba tribes of the region. A spear is a pole weapon consisting of a shaft, usually of wood, with a pointed head. The head may be simply the sharpened end of the shaft itself, as is the case with bamboo spears, or it may be made of a more durable material fastened to the shaft, such as flint, obsidian, iron, steel or bronze.
