Very nice old medicine ball made out of leather with lacing on one side, much like you would find on an old football. This is a great looking antique leather medicine ball – big, old, heavy and gorgeous! It is not perfectly round so this measurement varies. Because it is a vintage ball it has numerous scuff marks on the outside, but the leather is smooth and the stitching is good. The medicine ball is surrounded in a mist of questionable facts and legends, which makes it hard for anyone to say for certain how the medicine ball evolved throughout time. In gyms and bootcamps across the country, medicine ball workouts are king. When you think medicine ball workouts, you’re probably thinking, that is so outdated. Well what was old, is new again. A medicine ball is typically between a 12 to 15 inch diameter and is made with leather. These medicine balls come in various weights and are designed to work your core and give you one heck of a workout.

A medicine ball (also known as an exercise ball, a med ball, or a fitness ball) is a weighted ball roughly the diameter of the shoulders (approx. 13.7 inches). Often used for rehabilitation and strength training, it serves an important role in the field of sports medicine. It should not be confused with the larger, inflated exercise ball.
Medicine balls are usually sold as 2–25 lb (0.91–11 kg) balls and are used effectively in plyometric weight training to increase explosive power in athletes in all sports. Some medicine balls are in the form of weighted basketballs.
