"Aletheia" is an archival, hand signed and editoned pigment print. The artist used a Hasselblad medium format camera and traditional transparency film. Inspiring Angilee’s work has been countless, year-round walks in the wooded terrain of the Trinity and Red River corridors. Through her work she reflects upon the subtle and often overlooked beauty and strangeness found in the thickets, grassland prairies and flood plains of the North Texas and Southern Oklahoma region. The landscapes often explore ambiguity by alluding to what may be emerging and withdrawing from the photographic image. With an eye for the subtle, Angilee denotes the sublime by poetically formulating her interpretation of an area not fitting the traditional cannon of nineteenth century majestic landscape. Angilee Wilkerson holds a Masters of Fine Arts from Texas Woman’s University with an emphasis in Photography and Paper & Book Arts. She is an artist with an extensive exhibition record, university lecturer of fine art and a professional editorial photographer. Angilee has participated in both international and national exhibitions including seven solo exhibitions and over 40 group exhibitions. Her work has been recognized and honored by jurors from The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, NY; The Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY; The George Eastman Museum of Photography and Film, Rochester, NY; The Society for Photographic Education; Aperture Magazine; and many others. In addition her photographs have been featured in fine art journals, editorial magazines, and newspapers, including The Photo Review; Photographer’s Forum; Harper’s & Queen—London; The Wall Street Journal; Photo District News and many others. Active in her community, she is often invited to lead fine art workshops for institutions such as The Dallas Museum of Art, The Arlington Museum of Art and Texas Photographic Society.
