This is a wonderful and unusual petrified stone fossil animal specimen. Placenticeras meeki Ammonite, is an ammonite species from the Late Cretaceous. These cephalopods were fast-moving nektonic carnivores. The name "ammonite", from which the scientific term is derived, was inspired by the spiral shape of their fossilized shells, which somewhat resemble tightly coiled rams' horns. This type of fossil appeared, (circa 409 million years ago (Mya)) and became extinct shortly after the Cretaceous (66 Mya). 🔥 See rare and unusual collectibles at 🔥 Busacca Gallery 🔥
