This textile artwork is the beginning of a series of art quilts based on the art deco design. This first piece is 30"x27" and is densely hand quilted. The art deco design is carried out to the edges of the piece from the center design. Hand quilting alone carries on the design. This is a very tactile piece that everyone wants to touch and feel. The fabrics used in the quilt are all commercial fabrics. The backing is traditional unbleached muslin and is signed and dated by the textile artist.

Quilts were originally created to provide warmth in cold climates. Now quilts have come off the bed and become textile artworks in the 20th and 21st century.
The basic premise of 2 layers of cloth with a filler of batting held together by stitching is still relevant today. Now the artworks are made out of many materials and fibers and are made to be displayed as artwork just as paintings, photographs, and tapestries.
