One of the finest examples of a grate bronze sculpture, this art is very sexual in it's movement. Dark green bronze of a nude woman figure. Wonderful top quality green patinated bronze female. This woman dancing or swimming on a little bronze stand. Not signed. She measures a total height of 5 1/8 inches. Condition is very good with just a couple of small chips and dings, barely worthy of a mention. Artist ???? This is called "direct lost-wax casting." During the casting process, the wax of the original wax-and-clay model melts out, or is "lost," hence the technique's name. Because the model disappears, each bronze cast produced is a unique original. If the casting fails, the sculptor must begin again. Thus, only the most confident sculptors worked in this method. Bronze is widely used for cast metal sculpture . Common bronze alloys often have the unusual and very desirable property of expanding slightly just before they set, thus filling in the finest details of a mould. Bronze has resistance to corrosion by sea water along with several bronze alloys. Bronze also has very little metal-on-metal friction, which made it invaluable.
