Hour come 'round by artist Robert Mullenix: oil on canvas underpainting materials include acrylic paint, acrylic gel medium. I earned my MFA in painting from University of Illinois 1990. Since then, I have been painting while I serve as a stay-at-home dad. I am interested in the relationship between photographic and hand-painted imagery in the perception of visual information. most young realist artists these days paint from projected slide images of photographs, usually omitting niggling details and complexities of light and tone. This gives the work a compositional elegance, but there is also a nagging sense that the landscapes we are looking at are not quite real.
